The Good Place airs on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Last week on The Good Place, the Soul Squad discovers an enemy in their midst. But why would the Bad Place send an actual demon to be in the experiment – something Eleanor deems “so obvious?”

I am still hanging on to the theory that it was the only way they could ensure they could switch out the real Michael with the clone.

With their percentage for winning dropping from nine to seven, the gang begins to doubt Eleanor’s leadership abilities.

She tackles Brent first by causing chaos, much like the first few episodes of the series. Think Princeton Tiger stripes and giant golf balls doing the Indian Jones roll down the street. But Brent isn’t fazed; he thinks it’s because he belongs in “the Best Place.”

Eleanor overhears Tahani, Jason, and Janet talking smack on her leadership skills, so, in true Eleanor fashion, she splits. But not before issuing a few G-rated insults.

Michael finds her to tell her that she was meant to have this job. She may be just a girl from Arizona, but she is the savior of all humanity. She has a big heart and is a world-class bullshirt detector.

Her first plan of action is to convince Brent there is a Best Place, but it’s only for the “upper echelon of people.” The only way in is by doing good deeds and being kind to people. Sure, it won’t get him into the real Good Place in the beginning, but hopefully, he will start doing it out of habit, just like Eleanor.

Eleanor also knows she has to make a more significant sacrifice to make Chidi’s sacrifice worth it. She tells him that he is Simone’s soul mate. She also gently nudges him to help Simone acclimate to the neighborhood.

Basically, Chidi uses her own logic to convince her she’s been acting like kind of a jerk lately. Eleanor watches on knowing she did the right thing but still hating it.

So, I still think Clone Michael is hanging around the Soul Squad, even if he did help Eleanor out. I guess we’ll see soon enough!

Funniest bits

Michael’s cheat code for getting rid of his headache is “Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason.”

Brent wants everyone to know that he went to Princeton, but got in on his own merit, just like his father and father before him.

Eleanor thinks that everything always blows up her face. “I’m like a hot blonde, Wiley coyote!”

Chidi wonders if he can summon a book from his apartment. It turns out; he can! It hits him right in the face!

Janet breaks up with Jason because she has too much to worry about. And to lay it on even thicker, she tells him that the Jacksonville Jaguars released Blake Bortles. I guess telling him that they acquired 2018 Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles and that he broke his clavicle would have pushed him over the edge.
