Ava DuVernay is taking her talents to the DC Comic universe–again

Ava DuVernay is taking on her second project for the DC Comic universe!
Ava DuVernay is all set to do her second project in DC Comics, and I must admit–I am excited. She’s leading quite the exciting life after her recent win at the Emmys for Netflix’s When They See Us and now she’ll channel all that passion and talent into the future streaming service, HBO Max, according to Deadline.
So what DC Comics will she be working on next? DMZ–written by Brian Wood via Vertigo. This HBO Max pilot will tell the story of a history where a second American Civil War takes place in the not-so-distant future in Manhattan.
The Wood comic focuses primarily on “the remains of the federal government and the secessionist Free State armies”. However, the HBO Max series will follow a female character who works as a medic and is eager to find her lost son. Along the way, she inspires hope in a world that has lost every ounce of it.

Everyone involved seems very much excited to be involved in the project, including DuVernay herself who spoke to Deadline about it.
"DMZ is a special project to me as it marks a key collaboration with my company Array Filmworks, the excellent team at Warner Bros TV and the dynamo Roberto Patino."
I’ve never read the comic myself, but I think based on the premise and the fact that DuVernay is a part of it is enough to convince me to watch it when it premieres. Unfortunately, filming will not begin until early 2020 which is a few months ahead of the official HBO Max premiere.
Speaking of HBO Max, when the streaming service officially kicks off it will bring 10,000 hours of content with it. Yes, that means every episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Friends (which is going to leave Netflix in 2020).
Are you excited? Because I’m ecstatic!
