NYCC 2019: Tonight’s episode of Emergence is going to be a game-changer

Tonight’s episode of Emergence will be its best yet.

ABC brought its freshman hit, Emergence, to New York Comic Con this year where the cast teased what fans could expect from the rest of this season. However, some answers to the larger mysteries might be delivered sooner rather than later.

According to actor Owain Yeoman, who plays Reuters reporter Benny, episode 3 is going to offer up many answers to the viewers. It’s rare for a mystery series like Emergence to lay its cards on the table so early. Yet, it’s also refreshing to know the show won’t try to draw anything out too long and that there is still plenty more to come.

"“Episode 3 is incredible. I’m telling you, like the answers you get in episode 3, you will see what I mean when I tell you that we are delivering quickly on our promises. This is not going to be a long teased out thing, you’re going to get answers, you’re going to get critical answers. And I think that’s the success and the key of the show is this delivery of information very very quickly."

While Robert Bailey Jr., who plays the police officer Chris, also revealed the third episode would have a major reveal. However, he’s more excited for the episode after that for his own character, which seems to cement that Emergence is only going to get better each week.

"“3 has a large reveal that I think people will be really excited to see and I’m really excited about 4, for Chris in particular. I think he has a lot of fun moments with some characters that, maybe, in 3 will be introduced.”"

Could this be the week that Lost veteran Terry O’Quinn joins the cast? According to the synopsis for “2 MG CU BID”, it is. His character, Richard Kindred, is already expected to be one of the more interesting additions. He’s described as “a charming but ruthless billionare” who will undoubtedly have his own agenda. His company, Augur Industries, could be responsible for the odd symbols which keep popping up. Jo will not only be investigating him but she might also get some outside assistance.

However, the biggest reveal fans are probably waiting for involve Piper. Will episode 3 be the one where we learn of her origins? Emergence has toed the line with Piper as an innocent young girl who can’t remember her past, as well as someone who seems to be hiding something. She certainly looked very calm as she cut that chip out of her neck. According to the synopsis for tonight’s episode, she’ll be dealing with some kind of mysterious sickness.

One thing is for sure: the stakes are about to get higher. Both actors confirmed that every character will be expected to take “a leap of faith” when it comes to this mystery. What are they willing to give up? It sounds like Episode 3 might make some characters how far they will have to go in order to find out the truth.
