Sophia Bush joins the cast of Love, Simon!

The Disney+ adaptation of the hit film is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated of the year. Deadline reports One Tree Hill alum, Sophia Bush, has officially joined the cast in a recurring capacity.

While the series is named after the book, Love, Simon, it won’t actually follow the same story. Instead, the Disney+ show will be set in the same universe but focus on a new kid at Creekwood High School named Victor (Michael Cimino). He will look to Simon for guidance as he navigates his new life and all the challenges alongside growing up.

Sophia Bush will play Veronica, the new girlfriend to Victor’s best friend’s father, Mia (Rachel Naomi Hilson). She’s described as someone who is “easy to like” but also “chic and sophisticated”. Veronica runs a non-profit organization with the goal of helping women.

It seems like fiction is copying real life here since the description fits Sophia Bush to a T. The actress has become well known for her work outside of the entertainment industry where she’s focused on furthering the education of women and raising awareness on climate change. However, she’s also spoken out on issues such as gun control, reproductive rights, and voting rights. Recently, her podcast, Work in Progress, just launched where she chats with inspirational people.
