Succession and Billions actors join new AMC anthology series

The worlds of HBO’s Succession and Showtime’s Billions aren’t quite colliding, but two of their stars will appear together in AMC’s upcoming series.

HBO’s Succession deals largely with wealth, influence and corruption. Showtime’s Billions deals with — yes, you guessed it — wealth, influence and corruption. Interestingly, Succession star Sarah Snook and Billion‘s David Costabile are slated to appear together in an upcoming AMC anthology series about love, according to Deadline.

While the project doesn’t officially have a title, it will deal with a scientific breakthrough allowing people to find their “soulmates.” As implausible as such a discovery is, it may be a change of pace from the grounded, hard-nosed, greed hounds otherwise associated with characters portrayed by the two actors.

What else is known?

More from Show Snob

Deadline says the AMC series is written by Will Bridges. who has worked on Black Mirror and Stranger Things. The other known writer is Brett Goldstein, known for SuperBob and Adult Life Skills. In addition to Sarah Snook of Succession and David Costabile of Billions, the series will star Sonya Cassidy, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Darren Boyd, Dolly Wells, Karima McAdams, Laia Costa, Shamier Anderson, Georgina Campbell, Henry Goodman, Sofia Oxenham, Nathan Stewart Jarrett, Sandra Teles, Letty Thomas and Adam El Hagar.

What kind of story is it?

According to the Deadline article/press release, there will be “stories that range from tender to comic to shockingly absurd.” So, from the sounds of it, the series will likely not be heavy on thriller/horror elements, though the word “shockingly” opens the door to drastic possibilities. In fact, Will Bridges has obvious links to the horror/sci-fi/thriller genre, so one could reasonably expect such elements to creep in here and there (if not be prominent).

At the same time, SuperBob falls under the genres of action, comedy, and romance on IMDb. In any case. AMC has been well known for its hit series, so they seem to know what they’re doing.  If the series is as successful as Succession, we can likely expect to see many more projects from Sarah Snook in the near future.
