A Million Little Things faces another tragedy in the midst of all the chaos.

A Million Little Things sure knows how to tug at our heartstrings, doesn’t it? Prior to this week’s episode, I felt like things were hitting a lull with the whole Delilah/Eddie/Catherine plot. However, after tragedy strikes Rome’s family, things take a turn.

Rome’s mother is finally getting that cruise she wanted, and she couldn’t be more excited. While his father isn’t as eager or excited, he’s doing it for the sake of Renee. Rome runs around completing errands for them, while his brother, Omar, bums around the house.

There is a lot of friction between Rome and his brother and father, and it’s a relationship that’s been strained for years. This is why as Renee leaves the house to get her hair done, she asks Rome to find a way to get along with his father. She says it in such a cryptic, foreshadowing manner that it was almost obvious what was going to happen next.

Meanwhile, Gina and Rome also have the whole P.J. secret to deal with. You know, the one where they found he’s Jon’s son for sure. It makes that kiss between him and Sophie that much more awkward. A Million Little Things decides to kick it up a notch here and make Delilah’s story complicated.

As we know, Eddie and Catherine have been pushing her to tell the kids about the affair and that Eddie is Charlie’s dad. Delilah is not having it and doesn’t want her kids to go through another revelation after losing their father. Well, it looks like the Dixon family is about to get more than they can handle with P.J. and Charlie.

As a result of all the pressure, Delilah seems to want to pull away from everyone. To the point that she’s planning a summer away in France with her three kiddos. Catherine isn’t too eager to let them go as Eddie isn’t listed as the father on Charlie’s birth certificate.

I just want to interject here for a moment and say this part of the story in A Million Little Things is confusing to me. I think that both sides have a point and both sides are right in their own ways. However, it feels like a lot of blame is being thrown around with no solution. I think they need to sit down and have a mature conversation rather than presume to know what everyone else is thinking. Just saying.

As of now, neither P.J. nor Delilah knows the truth about his parentage. Gina finally works up the courage to tell Delilah, however, she gets a call from the salon with some really heartbreaking news. Renee had an aneurysm and died. Yes, died.

The emotions this situation bring on feel so real because of the way A Million Little Things tackles it. You feel Rome and his family’s loss and that gut-punch feeling to learn you just were with your deceased loved one. They do such a wonderful job harboring those emotions and bringing it onto the screen–I was crying like a baby.

Even with the news that Renee has passed away, Rome’s father wants to go on the cruise. Renee would have wanted that, and he intends on keeping that promise. And speaking of promises, Rome intends on keeping his promise to Renee as well. By the episode’s end, he and his father come to an understanding that they need each other. It’s a very beautiful father/son moment if you’re asking me.

Gary and Maggie have a semi-stressful situation to deal with in this week’s episode, but it’s not as bad as it has been between them. You see, Maggie had applied for a fellowship in Oxford before she was sick and got accepted. But then she had to defer after she got sick and tried to apply once again. Much to Gary’s surprise, Maggie gets a call from Oxford for an interview. And as expected, he’s a bit taken aback by this big reveal. However, he comes around and offers his support in the sweetest way. I totally stan these two all the way!

After a lot of back and forth, some threatening, and guilt-tripping, Delilah and Eddie finally have the conversation they needed to. I’m not sure it’s that productive because Eddie is demanding that his name be put on the birth certificate. And it sort of still feels unresolved, but Catherine is eager to make sure Eddie gets to be a part of Charlie’s life, whatever it takes, even if it means fighting for paternity rights.

Despite losing his mother, Rome seems to be doing alright. He tells Regina that while he’s sad, he knows that it will go away with time. His depression isn’t overwhelming him like it used to, and they will both be okay.

Well, maybe not, because P.J. found the DNA results in their room, and went back home with them. And to make things worse, Delilah runs into P.J.’s father on her way out from Rome and Gina’s place. She too learns that something weird is up after realizing that P.J. is Barbara Morgan’s son. Looks like the Dixon family is about to get just a little bit bigger.
