Impeachment: American Crime Story finds its Bill Clinton in Clive Owen.

American Crime Story is slowly building up its upcoming season with a new cast member! Clive Owen has officially joined the cast to play the role of President Bill Clinton, according to Deadline. Yah, that should be interesting.

Some time ago, creator Ryan Murphy mentioned in an interview that he wanted to cover the story of Monica Lewinksy’s scandal with Bill Clinton, but didn’t want to do it without her as part of the project. Fast forward to now, and Lewinsky is a producer on the next installment of the limited series.

Along with Owen, the third season of American Crime Story has Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky, and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones. The search for who will play Hillary Clinton is still underway, at the moment.

The premiere date for the series’ third season is set for Sept. 27th, 2020 and filming is set to begin late March. In true Ryan Murphy fashion, it’s premiere date is awfully close to the next U.S. Presidential election, but things might change based on the filming schedule.

Murphy spoke to Deadline about the nature of the third season and whether or not the current impeachment hearings will have any influence over the story.

"We do a show that is very thoroughly fact-checked and vetted and based on bestselling books by Jeffrey Toobin. I think the reason why it’s interesting is because you don’t have to change anything to feel modern. And I think that idea of impeachment obviously with Trump is fascinating. I wouldn’t say that we’re changing things that much or mentioning Trump at all in our narrative."

Given the success of the American Crime Story franchise, I think we can expect the third season to be bigger and better. There’s a lot of controversy and drama to cover with the scandal that rocked the core of U.S. history, and I can’t wait to see how Ryan Murphy approaches it.

Here’s to hoping that along with Paulson, we see some more Ryan Murphy favorites pop up in the series as time goes on. Bring back Darren Criss, please!
