In Berlin, Lola and Owen meet a new ally and he has the coolest van. With his help, they track down their prime suspect for the bioterror attack on Medical Police.

After jumping out of a crashing plane and parachuting to safety in the middle of Berlin, Lola and Owen are now being held at gunpoint by police on Medical Police. They have no idea how much trouble they’re in, he says. As Owen begins crying, the policeman threatens jail time without bail, trials, and life imprisonment…if they ever do anything like this again. But this time they are free to go. Better get out of there fast before they find the dead body under the parachute!

They visit the site of the second outbreak at the German Institute of Technology (more like Sicknology…because of the outbreak). There they encounter a guy acting suspiciously who then makes a run for it while their backs are turned. His name is Hassim (Ahmed Jusufspahić), an intern at the Institute. Before they go after him though, they want to make sure they’re not leaping to any conclusions based on his supposed ethnicity or religion. He really does seem to be their most likely suspect, but it’s always good to have the conversation and check your biases.

Owen really conspicuously tails Hassim while Lola searches his belongings. She finds a datebook with entries marked “Brazil” and “10 PM tonight boom!” Even if they were theoretically suspecting a young white male named Brett and not a middle eastern Muslim named Hassim, they would have to assume the worst, right?

Lola catches up with Owen at a market where he’s followed Hassim. As they are about to catch him, Lola and Owen are kidnapped and forced into a van. It drives away, leaving Hassim behind. Once parked in a secluded area, a shadowy figure approaches them and demands to know what they’ve done with McIntyre. They tell him that she saved their lives, but she didn’t make it. The shadowy figure turns the lights on and reveals himself to be Jason Schwartzman.

He calls himself the Goldfinch. He works for himself. And for everybody. And for his country. And for their country, too. But mostly for himself. When he heard McIntyre had been betrayed he had to make sure it wasn’t Lola and Owen who betrayed her. But they seem okay. Goldfinch uses the cool tech in his van to help them find Hassim again, doing a background check and tapping into the city’s traffic cameras.

When Hassim uses his phone, Goldfinch triangulates the signal and discovers his location by hacking into military spy satellites. He can even see Madonna’s backyard if he wants to, so his van can do pretty much anything. Also, Hassim has just bought a one-way ticket to New York City, so they better go catch him fast.

Goldfinch gives them guns and takes them to apprehend Hassim. It turns out that despite all the circumstantial evidence, Hassim is totally innocent of any terrorism. All the entries in his datebook had other meanings. Hassim is a virgin and was just getting ready to have sex with his girlfriend for the first time. So on the day of the Brazil attack, he happened to get a Brazilian and “10 pm tonight boom” was the night he planned to have sex.

And as for the one-way ticket to New York, Hassim and his father share an account and his father has threatened for years to leave his family and move to New York. Today is the day he finally did it. Despite their best intentions, they still ended up accusing an innocent Muslim man of being a terrorist. They own up to their mistake and admit that there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution to these problems. Hassim appreciates their honesty and says that this is exactly the kind of dialogue they should all be having.

Lola and Owen go back to the van, which has cable! Owen turns on the TV where a news anchor (Randall Park) is reporting that the virus has actually appeared in five cities across the world simultaneously. Sao Paulo, Berlin, Vancouver, Tel Aviv, and Johannesburg. But how was the virus released at the same time in all those places and who coordinated the attacks? But up next is humorist Jim Davidson (David Wain) who has a new relationship in his life and it’s with the snooze button!

Lola thinks she might know who can help them solve this worldwide terror attack. As Goldfinch drives them to the airport, a cut scene reveals that the terminator type henchwoman from the plane has survived the crash. She rises from the flames and wrenches the lavatory sign off her face, leaving behind the branded letters “LAVATOR” in her cheek. Her job isn’t finished yet and she’s going after Lola and Owen.
