Impeachment: American Crime Story is starting to come together as it adds Billy Eichner and Betty Gilpin to the cast!

American Crime Story is finally getting it together for the upcoming third season surrounding the Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky scandal. This particular story for season 3 has been a long time coming as creator Ryan Murphy patiently waited until Lewinsky herself was willing to join the project behind-the-scenes.

With the series now a reality, American Crime Story is finally starting to get the important pieces in place with its recent casting announcements. According to Deadline, American Horror Story’s Billy Eichner and GLOW’s Betty Gilpin are officially a part of the cast! I’m not that surprised by Eichner’s involvement as he is one of Ryan’s usual go-to actors.

Eichner is set to play the role of journalist (and founder of Drudge Report) Matt Drudge. For those of you who don’t know, Drudge was the first to report the shocking news regarding Clinton and Lewinsky’s affair. Something tells me Eichner is going to shine in this role–I can already see it now.

All set to play media pundit Ann Coulter is Gilpin. What a stark difference from her role on GLOW isn’t it? Coulter wrote the 1998 book, High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton, in which she talks about the scandal as well.

Along with Eichner and Gilpin, Impeachment: American Crime Story has previously cast Booksmart’s Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky, Clive Owen as Clinton, American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones. Murphy shows always have the best cast–I can’t wait for this!

I’m pretty stoked about Impeachment: American Crime Story, especially because it has been one of Murphy’s strongest shows in recent years. Both seasons 1 and 2 were critically acclaimed, so it will come as no surprise if season 3 gets the same treatment (which I’m sure it will).
