A Million Little Things picks up three months after the life-altering reveal. Is everyone okay? Nah, not really.

A Million Little Things left us with a lot of angst and anxiety surrounding their characters. Things were pretty much a hot mess in the midseason finale. Maggie and Gary broke up, Sophie is ridiculously angry at her mother and Eddie for keeping secrets and rebelling because of it, and Regina and Rome are starting to make some moves with adoption.

Most of the midseason premiere revolves around Sophie and her inability to come to terms with reality. And it’s not her fault. She lost her father to suicide only to learn that her mother gave birth to a child whose father is not her own. It’s a very complicated situation so her anger is justified. But in the context of the show, it won’t be amusing for very long.

It’s very weird for me to see Maggie and Gary apart. I don’t like it and I hope that changes. It was too much for my delicate heart to see Maggie on dating apps and Gary hooking up with random women. WHY CAN’T THEY BE TOGETHER?!

What’s weirder about the opening scene is the fact that Maggie and Eric are out for coffee discussing her dating profile. When the barista suggests that they should date, it feels rather awkward to them, especially because he has her brother’s heart. Well, does he, though? He’s definitely suspect.

During the midseason finale, Regina told Rome that she is ready to adopt and bring a child into their home. It’s basically what they spend the midseason premiere trying to figure out.

There are a lot of things that go into the process which involve visits from social workers and filling out medical history paperwork. Rome is a bit nervous about the fact that he takes antidepressants, and to avoid dealing with the stigma surrounding it, Regina keeps it off of history.

But Rome doesn’t want to start off his life with their kid on a lie. And so he takes the courageous step of being transparent and baring it all. I applaud A Million Little Things for doing that. They have been doing a great job making Rome relatable for so many of us.

The cutest part of the episode comes during Danny’s school musical, where he’s playing Danny Zuko from Grease. Unfortunately, he’s about to share his first kiss with a girl, and all he wanted was to have shared it with someone special first–aka Elliot. And he gets just that because Elliot kisses him moments before he goes out on the stage. How freaking cute!

Let’s talk about Gary for a moment. He’s really starting to lose focus in life ever since Maggie left, and one aspect, in particular, is his rage. His road rage has gotten pretty bad, and when he tries to confront another driver that whizzes past a stop sign, he learns something the hard way.

The driver gets out and pulls out a gun on Gary. Yes, a gun! It was very frightening but I’m hoping that it snaps him back to reality. Come on Gary, we need you back!

A Million Little Things ends with a very awkward moment between Maggie and Eric…who kiss. Ugh, yes, kiss. And just as I suspected, there is something very shady about him. As Maggie awkwardly runs out of the apartment, Eric takes off his shirt. And why is this important, you might ask?

BECAUSE HE HAS NO SURGICAL SCAR. What the heck is going on?! Who is he?!
