Chilling Adventures of Sabrina part 3 finale recap: Chapter Twenty-Eight: Sabrina Is Legend
By Ariba Bhuvad
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ends its third season leaving us with the thought–now what?
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ended its third season on a rather interesting note. But I will say that I feel it was its strongest season yet. I was way more into it than I was with the first two, but there are still many places this season could have been better.
In any case, we’ve reached the end of yet another season, and things are, for the lack of better words, a hot freaking mess. The episode begins with a book titled “The Morningstar Chronicles” filling us in with what has happened.
The pagans won, Caliban failed, and Sabrina (along with Lucifer and Lilith) are still stuck in stone. It’s been years, decades in fact since all of this occurred. All Sabrina has are her thoughts and not even the slightest clue that the outside world and her friends and family cease to exist.

So, where do we go from here? Well, as we quickly come to realize, Sabrina is the only one who can get herself out of this mess, and literally, that is what happens. A hooded Sabrina shows up in front of the stones and switches spots with herself.
She has to take the Unholy Regalia and rescue her home from the pagans. It’s a bit of a time loop situation, and honestly, I didn’t see it coming–but was so there for it.
When Sabrina arrives at her home, it’s a sad shell of its former self with no one to be found. All Sabrina comes across are the skeletons of her family, and it’s a stark reminder that she wasn’t there to help them in their time of need.
Eventually, she heads to the carnival where she finds her friends’ skeletons–and Ambrose (alive!). We’re not sure how he managed to survive all these years, but he did! He’s still the same age and has made the mines a safe place to hide out and live. While we find this family reunion to be sweet and all, Ambrose is quick to remind Sabrina she was MIA during all the chaos.
But there’s no time to be passive-aggressive because he has a game plan. They can use the Unholy Regalia to create a weapon with immense power. When they arrive at the Academy, a deranged version of Blackwood is there. Luckily, they handle him by using Bitbat to keep him occupied with his own crazy visions.
With the Time Egg by her side, Sabrina is able to travel back in time and tell everyone what to do. Everyone is filled in on what’s going to happen, and basically, they’re actually prepared this time around. The plan is to stop the town from going to the carnival (thank you lullaby spell), but things take a rather fun, unexpected turn here.
The pagans think they’re going to win after all when they capture Wardwell for the virgin sacrifice. But as it turns out, it wasn’t actually Wardwell, but Pesta the witch! Her special power is depleting greenery and making it sad and brown and dead. Sorry, Green Man.
All the horrible, scariest pagans are killed by Sabrina and the gang, and all the women do a badass job of taking most of them down. With the world saved, Sabrina has to go back to her stone self to keep the time loop running as it is supposed to. That’s the price she has to pay, unfortunately. But hey, at least everyone is safe and sound!

But wait, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fans! Sabrina squared has an idea. One of them will be in Hell while the other lives on Earth. Pretty snazzy idea, right?
Down in Hell, one of the Sabrina fully embraces her role as Queen of Hell and is coronated while all her followers bend to her will, pledging their support. It’s a very glorious and magnificent moment for Sabrina Morningstar.
Meanwhile, the other Sabrina returns home, much to everyone’s surprise. Ambrose is a bit irked to see her because she’s essentially created a huge time travel no-no, and is most certainly going to face the consequences at some point.
And as season 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina closes out, it leaves us with a not-so-happy ending for Greendale or the Spellmans. In this new version of the timeline, Blackwood has the Time Egg–and he’s not planning a party or celebration. Sorry Spellmans, season 4 is going to be a little tough for you.
