Maggie’s date doesn’t go as planned while Delilah tries to talk to Sophie about drugs on A Million Little Things.

A Million Little Things is more often than not, about a million little things. In “The Lunch”, a majority of the episode takes place in Delilah and Regina’s restaurant. A lot is happening in this small vicinity, including Maggie’s date. It just so happens, Gary is there too, but completely on accident.

I mean, what did she expect? It is Gary’s best friends’ restaurant, he could pretty much show up whenever. Ah, the complicated woes of a breakup. Who is right? Who is wrong? Is there even a right and wrong?

In any case, while Maggie waits for her date to show up, Gary soon realizes that it is her purpose of being there. I think it’s nice to see their friendship has evolved in this way, but it’s so obvious that Gary is still in love with her. I just wish he’d say it!

And if it wasn’t obvious before, then it was the minute Maggie got stood up and Gary had a bottle of wine delivered to Maggie, from her “date”. Of course, she knows deep down it was Gary who sent it, but he directs her doubts towards Regina, saying it was Regina that sent it.

Ugh, these guys are endgame, bring them back together!

Meanwhile, Delilah had a serious conversation she needed to have with Sophie after Gary found drugs in her sleeping bag. While we have no explanation whatsoever about the drugs, it does come out that Sophie is on birth control, and has been entertaining the idea of having sex with her boyfriend, Jake.

So when both Jake and Sophie call out of work at the restaurant, Delilah’s first thought is they ditched work to spend a day having sex together. Alas, this is not what is going on. It turns out Jake wasn’t feeling well, and Sophie went to check on him. His appendix burst and he needed to be rushed to the hospital, so luckily, Mama D shows up in time to help with just that. And mother and daughter have a talk about safe sex, and all that. Good job, A Million Little Things. Trying to cram as many lessons as possible in one episode.

Back at the restaurant, things take a scary turn when Eve’s ex shows up. At first, we think it’s Maggie’s date, but as time goes on, it’s clear he’s just some random guy. Eve doesn’t want to cause a commotion so she quietly leaves with Derek and tells Regina and Rome to not take any drastic action. Honestly, this may sound horrible, but with Derek in the picture, I keep thinking about Eve’s baby and whether or not Rome and Regina will get it after all.

Amidst all of this, Rome has his meeting with the big-time actor who wants to star in his film. Unfortunately for Rome, he had planned a lunch with his father, and despite canceling, he showed up anyway. The lunch goes rather awkwardly until Rome realizes that his father is his only parent left. He has to put him first, so he walks away from the important lunch (which wasn’t going well anyway since the dude was always on his phone).

But the actor is impressed with Rome putting his family first, and officially agrees to do the movie! You go, Rome! A family, budding career, and happiness! As long as Derek doesn’t pull something horrible, that is.

He better not–seriously.
