On My Block season 3, episode 3 recap: Chapter Twenty Three
By Ariba Bhuvad
Ruby takes his family’s financial issues into his owns with Jamal’s help in a rather grotesque episode of On My Block.
On My Block got a bit gross during the third episode of the season, but I suppose desperate times call for desperate measures. Given the financial turmoil Ruby’s family is experiencing, he wants to do his part in helping out. He enlists Jamal’s help in making chicken sandwiches from Dwayne’s that they can sell at the community pool.
At first, things are going swimmingly (ha!) well, but when they run out of inventory, they decide to start grilling the chicken on the road–with rocks and bird poop that accidentally make their way into the sandwiches.
As expected, everyone that buys those sandwiches gets violently sick and begins throwing up all over the pool. It’s a pretty disgusting scene to watch, and I fear for Jamal and Ruby’s future given that they could kill someone with how sick they are getting.

Jamal has been rather distracted through all of this because he has a new girl in his life, and they’re having lots of sex. On My Block really aged these kids in the last couple of seasons, didn’t it?
Speaking of relationships, I’m not entirely sure what is going on with Monse and Cesar. They’re very confusing and all over the place, and it seems like Monse is the one who is uncertain.
I don’t blame her since Cesar did cheat on her, but they haven’t been able to move past it.
The two decide to go out to the carnival, but it’s not just the two of them. Jasmine tags along as well as Oscar, much to Monse’s disapproval.
I wasn’t shocked to see that Monse and Oscar end up finding common ground in all the animosity she has towards him.
And she ends up trying to kiss him at the end of the night.
Awwwwkward.
She was a bit on the tipsy side and didn’t really know what she was doing. But Oscar stopped it before anything happened, but unfortunately, Papa Ray was watching from a distance.
Can I just take a sidebar to note how hilarious it is that Ruby is having fantasies about Jasmine? Throughout the previous two seasons of On My Block, Jasmine has been obsessed with him, and now, the tables are reserved, and it’s quite hilarious to see.
Will they end up together? Tune in On My Block, fans.
