5. The Affair
The Affair finished its final season recently, but most would agree that the series was one of the best Showtime shows. That may not have been true until the very end, as the last few seasons made a lot of controversial decisions, but the early seasons were incredibly enthralling.
As the title suggests, the show explores the ramifications affairs take on one’s emotions and psyche. It begins with a waitress and her husband struggling to get by after a tragedy.
They meet a seemingly perfect couple vacationing in the Hamptons. But when an affair begins, things become increasingly complicated. One of the best parts of The Affair is the way it alternates between viewpoints, giving audiences a chance to see events from multiple perspectives and decide who is telling the truth and who isn’t.
