Unfortunately for fans of American Horror Story, the show’s “weather-dependent” Season 10 could be in for a severe delay.

The majority of television shows are facing production shutdowns right now due to the coronavirus pandemic. But American Horror Story could face an even longer delay than some due to creator Ryan Murphy’s “weather-dependent” idea for Season 10.

While chatting with The Wrap to promote his new Netflix series, Hollywood, Murphy revealed that his idea for Season 10 revolved around one “very specific moment” that is dependent on the weather.

We don’t have confirmation on the potential theme for Season 10, but a cast announcement teaser released earlier this year hinted that it would have something to do with a beach. If true, I’m guessing Murphy was hoping to film in the late spring or summer and would now have to wait until the colder weather to start work on the series.

As such, he now has to regroup and decide how to proceed with the long-running horror anthology. FX has already renewed the show for at least three more seasons.

Murphy could skip ahead, swapping themes for Season 10 and 11, or he could postpone the tenth season until further notice when conditions are right.

The problem with postponing the show is the cast. Murphy has assembled yet another all-star group of actors and actresses for American Horror Story Season 10. It is tough to coordinate schedules with actors in demand.

We could potentially see cast members drop out of the project, depending on how the schedule eventually pans out.

"“I don’t know what we’re going to do. I don’t know what I’m gonna do next with that show. I don’t know if I’ll accelerate another season or wait till next year to shoot this one.”"

Season 10 cast members include the return of AHS veterans like Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Finn Wittrock, Adina Porter, Billie Lourd, and more. Macaulay Culkin will also join the cast.
