In episode 7 of Netflix series Raising Dion, Dion has a medical emergency, Kat learns about his powers, and BIONA moves in to “extract” the burgeoning superhero.

Previously on Raising Dion, Dion (Ja’Siah Young) underwent superhero training with Charlotte (Deirdre Lovejoy). Also, Pat Rollins (Jason Ritter) awkwardly kissed Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), and we gained insight into BIONA’s spying.

Episode 7 begins with Charlotte jamming out to Janis Joplin music while traveling to meet Brayden Mills (Griffin Robert Faulkner), whose father (Marc Menchaca) is also “superpowered”…or at least was before the Man in the Storm took him.

Charlotte quickly learns that Brayden also has superhuman abilities, as he can instantly see her even after she becomes invisible. Brayden doesn’t provide many answers, but we at least learn he has telepathic abilities. He also mentions the Man in the Storm.

Meanwhile, Pat shows up for Dion, and Nicole wants him to use his presence at BIONA to get past their encryption in the chip inside of the wristwatch Mark (Michael B. Jordan) gifted to Dion.

There’s a bit of a “will-they-won’t-they” dynamic between Nicole and Pat after she provides care for his migraine. However, as most viewers suspect, it’s going to be more of a “won’t they.” That’s not to say everyone’s against such a relationship, though. In addition to Pat, Tess (Dana Gourrier) encourages Nicole to consider him as an option.

Pat’s devastating migraine, Dion’s distress

As we saw earlier in Raising Dion, Dion Warren can heal injured animals. When Pat mentions the fox at BIONA labs being healed, Dion tries to treat Pat’s headache. It doesn’t work, however. It backfires in a significant way.

During his class project with Esperanza (Sammi Haney) and Jonathan (Gavin Munn) — where they devise a giant fire extinguisher that utilizes cold air to stop storms — Dion begins feeling sick.

Unfortunately, Nicole can’t leave work right away, so she gets her sister, Kat (Jazmyn Simon), to pick Dion up from school. On the plus side, Kat is a surgeon and therefore medically skilled, so she’s perhaps the ideal person to bring him to the hospital. On the downside, Nicole worries about what could happen if Dion’s superpowers are discovered.

Dion has a 104° F fever. Kat gets a blood sample and takes an X-ray. Hospital workers notice that Dion’s x-rays don’t look right. Though Kat thinks it’s due to a technical glitch or possible incompetence. Nicole eventually does show up, and finally realizes that to protect Dion, he will have to demonstrate his superpowers to Kat.

Unfortunately, Dion’s power has been drained, which leads Kat to think Nicole is crazy. Eventually, though, Kat does witness Dion float mid-air. It’s a bit of a relief to Kat, too, as she says she was considering placing Nicole on a 72-hour psychiatric hold. While recuperating, Dion does briefly talk to Esperanza and Jonathan.

Deletion/Extraction

Raising Dion hasn’t forgotten about BIONA CEO Suzanne Wu (Ali Ahn), who is working to “extract” Dion from the hospital. As Kat begins deleting Dion’s files to conceal his unusual test results, she gets caught by Danielle (Erica Tazel).

In other words, she’s paying the price for protecting Dion and Nicole. Unfortunately, it appears to be too little, too late. They ultimately help Dion by increasing his iodine levels, thanks to Pat’s advice (after getting through his father’s notes about superpowers).

However, Kat immediately gets fired for the medical records. Also, the “CDC” shows up for Dion, claiming he must be quarantined. It may not be the real CDC, though, as Dion is taken away in a BIONA van. Dion is in trouble yet again.

On the bright side, it might be an excellent opportunity for Dion to employ his superpowers.  The question is:  Is he strong enough yet, or focused enough?
