Ozark Season 3 scores 18 nominations for the 2020 Emmys!

Ozark Season 3 was certainly the strongest season the Netflix series has had to date. So it comes as no surprise to me that they have such a strong presence in the 2020 Emmys nominations. The Byrde family’s dramatic saga certainly made an impression on Emmy voters this year as it snagged 18 nominations, yes 18 nominations for its penultimate season. Take a peek at all of them here.

The core three are nominated once again!

Not only did they land a nomination for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ but Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, and Julia Garner each got a point in the categories of ‘Outstanding Lead Actor, Lead Actress, and Supporting Actress in a Drama Series’. I mean, are we surprised?

More from Award Shows

If I’m being honest, Julia Garner once again deserves to win the award because she killed it in Ozark Season 3. When she is playing the role of Ruth, it’s like a trainwreck you can’t look away from. Her fierceness, no-nonsense attitude is the life of Ozark and once again, she deserves to walk away or however, she will be getting her potential Emmy given COVID-19 concerns.

I’m excited to see Jason Bateman and Laura Linney in their respective categories because as I’ve already mentioned, Ozark Season 3 was their time to shine. I’d like to focus on Linney for a moment here because she truly brought forth her best performance as Wendy Byrde. I think we got the most out of Wendy in terms of character development in the third season.

There’s a side of her that’s been quietly brewing, waiting to erupt, and I think we saw it all come to a head in Ozark season 3. I loved how the vulnerable, conflicted side of Wendy this season, and I think Linney definitely earned her spot in the lead drama actress category.

As for Jason Batemen, well I certainly can never praise the guy enough. Who would have thought the goofball from Arrested Development would go on to make and act in a critically-acclaimed drama series? I still have a hard time believing it, but ever since Ozark came around Bateman has quickly become one of my favorite drama actors.

The competition is fierce!

I’m not sure how each of them will fair in their respective categories, because as always they are ridiculously stacked. Bateman is competing with Pose’s Billie Porter, Succession’s Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong, This Is Us’ Sterling K. Brown, and The Morning Show’s Steve Carrell.

That’s quite the fierce competition so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Julia Garner doesn’t have it any easier either. I mean just look at her fellow nominees. MERYL STREEP?!

And then, of course, Laura Linney, she’s got some tough cookies fighting alongside for that Lead Actress Emmy.

One thing is for sure, the 2020 Emmys are going to be a very interesting, “at the edge of your seat” sort of event, especially with the uncertainty of how they’re actually holding the event.

I know I will be rooting for Ozark Season 3 through and through. If not for anyone else, then my girl Julia Garner. And if she doesn’t win that Emmy once again then just as Ruth would say–“I don’t know s*** About f***.

Next. Ozark Season 4 will conclude the Byrde family saga in two parts. dark
