In Emily in Paris Episode 4, Emily finally makes a new friend in the stunning blond Camille. But the two have more in common than she realizes.

Emily makes a new friend in Emily in Paris Episode 4. A gorgeous blond woman named Camille (Camille Razat) spots her trying to buy roses and offers a helping hand to facilitate purchase with the grumpy florist. The two get to chatting and Camille is as bubbly, outgoing and charming as she looks. She’s certainly one of the most genial people Emily has met in the city thus far. She gives Emily a few brunch locations to try and invites her to an art exhibition that night where Randy Zimmer (Eion Bailey), a famous hotel owner, will be in attendance.

As one of Randy’s biggest fans, Emily is only too happy to accept the invite, and it happens to give her a chance to boost her image at Savoir and potentially save Antoine as a client. Sylvie isn’t happy with Antoine as of late, especially since she thinks he sent Emily the La Perla lingerie. We know he did, but Emily lies and said it was a gift from her new friend Gabriel since she still finds the gift inappropriate and doesn’t want to ruffle Sylvie’s feathers any more than she already has by existing.

Shortly after arriving at work, Emily overhears Antoine and Sylvie arguing in her office and makes a beeline for the door. Julien warns her to tread carefully because Antoine thinking of finding another marketing agency, hence the argument. Fearing she’ll be at fault if Antoine leaves, Emily enters the lion’s den and, in a risky move since she hasn’t even met Randy yet, makes up a collaborative pitch for Antoine to design a signature scent for Randy’s newest Parisian hotel opening. She gives Sylvie credit for the idea in a bid to win her respect.

At the art exhibition, Emily gives Randy a fast and persuasive elevator pitch for the scent idea and succeeds in setting a meeting between the two men. The problem is, Randy is leaving the following day and while interested, doesn’t have time to get into the nuts and bolts.  As Sylvie doesn’t want Emily to succeed, she’s delighted by this development, but Emily has a countermove. They can continue their discussion over dinner.

Sylvie demands she get them a reservation at a notoriously popular and extremely busy local restaurant. Surprisingly, Emily manages to do just that, except when they arrive, she realizes she flubbed the dates (Europeans don’t reverse date numbers) and the reservation is actually for Nov. 8 and not that night — Aug. 11.

Emily quickly calls Gabriel and begs him to let her bring her party to his restaurant.  Thinking fast, she tells the group the good news is they can return to this place in November to celebrate Randy’s hotel opening and the great news is, they can dine with a skilled up-and-coming chef!

Luckily for Emily, Gabriel is an excellent chef and everyone is pleasantly surprised by the delicious food. Even Randy enjoys eating somewhere lesser-known despite his previous desire for a Michelin-starred restaurant. He likes being a trendsetter.

Best of all, Randy and Antoine decide they’re going to move forward with the scent idea and hash out the details with their lawyers the next day. Antoine won’t be leaving Savoir anytime soon, though as he coos in Sylvie’s ear, he never would have left her anyway (supposedly).

Sylvie is impressed enough to invite Emily for after-dinner drinks, although she recommends Emily stay behind and indulge herself in Parisian life — a.k.a. get it on with Gabriel, who she now knows is real. Considering all Emily has been hearing from people is that she should embrace the romance of Paris, she finally takes the leap and kisses Gabriel.

As she exits his restaurant for the second time, she almost runs into Camille who happened to be coming by to visit…her boyfriend, Gabriel.  He’s just as shocked as Emily that the two girls know each other.

Well, as Sylvie says, “Sometimes the best relationships are complicated.”

Odds & Ends from Emily in Paris Episode 4

  • When Emily and Camille first part ways and trade air kisses, Emily accidentally kisses Camille full on the lips. She says she’s sorry, but Camille isn’t. Mindy even wonders if Camille was hitting on her. How much better of a story would it be if Camille dumped Gabriel for Emily? Not gonna get my hopes up though.
  • Luc is kind of a creep, no? First the “at least she’s hot,” comment from a previous episode and then his remark about Emily’s legs in this episode.
  • Antoine doesn’t think sending Emily lingerie was inappropriate. He claims he didn’t send it to her for him, but for her to wear and feel sexy and powerful. Still, Emily makes it clear it crossed a line for her so let’s hope he respects that in the future.
  • Sylvie was totally flirting hard with Randy to try and make Antoine jealous, right? She gave Antoine the cold shoulder all evening until she realized Emily does have a friend named Gabriel and now believes the story about him sending her the lingerie and not Antoine. It’s good enough for her since Sylvie is spotted making out with him against a tree outside the restaurant instead of getting drinks.
  • Normally I like characters like Sylvie but she just seems like a budget Miranda Priestly (no offense to the actress, btw, it’s just the writing) and she’s extremely unpleasant.
