This is one Life Day Rey and her friends will never forget in the humorous and heartwarming LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special.

Ironically the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special was the first holiday special I watched this holiday season. Star Wars takes another shot at Life Day, a holiday that is never fully explained outside of a holiday that is spent with friends and family.

Do they enjoy good food, gifts, music and time travel? Without giving too much away, let’s dive into this adventure of the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special!

LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special

The 44-minute holiday special takes place on Life Day after the last Star Wars film, The Rise of Skywalker. While Poe, Rose and Chewbacca are trying to get the Millennium Falcon decorated and prepared for the holiday, Rey is training Finn to become a Jedi.

When Finn begins to struggle, Rey becomes frustrated at what she could be doing wrong. After searching through Jedi texts, she believes she finds the answer.

Her answers leads to her running into Star Wars characters from the past and present, including A New Hope farmboy Luke overlooking the binary sunset, Darth Vader and The Emperor, and my personal favorite, the Mandalorian and The Child.

As expected, the holiday special pokes fun at Star Wars in delightful ways that definitely made me laugh, especially Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn’s scene at the beginning of The Phantom Menance and the continuous shots of The Death Star with pieces of it falling off.

Even the simplest things characters do comes off hilarious when their hands are C-shaped, and the action of pushing buttons comes off more like they are bashing them. Even some character personalities changed slightly adding to the humor.

The voice actors did a pretty good job of sounding as close to the characters as possible. Several notable actors returned to voice their trademark characters, such as Anthony Daniels, Kelly Marie Tran and Billy Dee Williams.

But for the most part, the voices were on point and matched wonderfully.

While most of the plot is callbacks of important and epic Star Wars moments, the heart of the holiday special still manages to get through the messages of having faith in yourself and appreciating the times you have with the ones you love.

If you are looking for a holiday special you haven’t seen yet, give the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special a shot. May the Force be with you.
