A Million Little Things returns with an emotionally jam-packed season 3 premiere as the group waits to learn of Eddie’s fate.

A Million Little Things Season 3 wastes no time in getting back to the emotional turmoil of the season 2 finale. If you recall, the last thing we saw was Eddie (David Giuntoli) getting hit by a car while on the phone with Katherine (Grace Park).

He had just come clean about almost drinking after learning the alleged truth behind a horrible teenage incident, in which he may or may not have been responsible for the death of a friend.

Whoever hit Eddie makes a run for it, but not before calling 911 and alerting them to the accident. All the while, I was fairly certain the guy who had hit Eddie was the father of the girl who died years ago. After all, Eddie had shown up drudging up old memories for a father who was still mourning the loss of his kid. And clearly, he felt Eddie was to blame all these years, so he immediately sought revenge.

It’s quite a starting point for the season 3 opener and inevitably brings the entire group together, despite their personal issues. It’s the beauty of this show and something we’ve come to love about A Million Little Things. The friendships, the love, and the relationships. And is the exact reminder the series gives us in the season 3 premiere. Grab your tissues, folks–this was a difficult one to get through.

A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 1 recap: Does Eddie survive?

Luckily, the series doesn’t make us wait for the entirety of the season to learn whether or not Eddie survives the accident. Although it’s touch and go for a while, Eddie does manage to survive. However, the incident doesn’t let him off as easily as anyone would have liked, and for the time being, he’s seemingly paralyzed from the waist down.

From what I can tell, this is going to be a very difficult turning point for both Eddie and Catherine. As it stands, Eddie is prone to addiction, and with his life drastically changing in this manner, only time will tell just how much he will let it impact him. Will he turn to alcohol to drown his sorrows? Or to forget that he will be heavily self-reliant on Theo (Tristan Byon) resort to doing drugs?

I’m not going to lie, a bit worried here folks!

A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 1 recap: A pleasant surprise

At first, Theo is kept in the dark as to what’s happened with Eddie, but he’s quite possibly the smartest kid on television and is quick to learn what’s happened thanks to his mother’s iPad. But luckily, Eddie survives the horrific incident, and about a month later, Theo and Katherine take him home to a very beautiful surprise.

Not only have Darcy (Floriana Lima) and Gary (James Roday) helped build a ramp for Eddie’s wheelchair to go in and out of the house, but Katherine has something extra special in store for him. Before leaving the hospital, Eddie gave Katherine a way out of their relationship. She had endured a lot on his behalf, and he couldn’t imagine putting her through even more.

Sorry, not sorry, Eddie. Katherine is here to stay!

In fact, the surprise she and Theo have for Eddie (apart from the ramp) involves renewing their vows as they were originally going to before the accident. In a romantic plot twist, Katherine proposes to Eddie, and after a resounding yes, they renew their vows in front of all of their friends.

But from a distance, someone is watching with anger and despair–and lo and behold, it’s the man who tried to run Eddie over.

A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 1 recap: On the other side of the pond

Unfortunately, there was someone missing during all of this. Maggie (Allison Miller) had already arrived in London for her stint at Oxford University, and after that rather awkward goodbye with Gary, she wasn’t exactly looking back already.

Her stay is off to a weird start when she meets her roommate, Jamie (Chris Geere)’s girlfriend, before meeting him, and gives her advice on their relationship. Jamie isn’t too happy to hear what’s happened because it resulted in his girlfriend storming off, so that will make for some interesting moments between him and Maggie in the days to come.

Is it too early to say future relationship alert?

A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 1 recap: To adopt or not to adopt

Rome (Romany Malco) and Regina (Christina Moses) are still spiraling from their adoption wrong after Eve decides she’s not going to give up her baby. For Regina, this is an extremely devastating loss because she wasn’t eager to have kids in the first place and had to work hard to get to this place.

With things not working out, she made herself vulnerable, and she blames Rome for it. Which is why she rejects Rome’s desire to adopt another baby, who they get a call about later that night. It’s caused a rift between them, and I think we will start to see that manifest in a very bad way as the season progresses.

All in all, A Million Little Things did a stand-up job with its season 3 premiere and gave us a little bit of everything. But while Eddie has survived and it is cause to celebrate, I’m afraid this season is going to be a very tumultuous one for all the character–and we’re just getting started.
