April is another big month at HBO, including the return of some beloved original series. March saw two high-profile comedies premiering on HBO, with Steve Carell's new series Rooster as well as the dark comedy DTF St. Louis, starring Jason Bateman and David Harbour. Now fans can look forward to even more exciting shows coming to the streamer this month.

Looking ahead to April, two of the most talked-about and acclaimed HBO series are finally coming back for their final farewells (one of them after a rather lengthy absence). There is also a thrilling new series that could be the next surprise hit from HBO, which will have everyone talking.

Let's find out what's to come on HBO in April 2025.

Hacks season 5

Premiere date: April 9

Since its debut in 2021, Hacks has become one of HBO's top comedies, winning countless Emmy awards and wowing critics as well as audiences. The series follows legendary comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) as she begins a new career path alongside an aspiring comedy writer, Ava (Hannah Einbinder).

The hilarious, volatile relationship between Deborah and Ava has been the highlight of the show, with the two actors playing wonderfully off each other. While they are often at each other's throats with their differing opinions on comedy and life in general, they have also formed a genuine and moving friendship over the seasons.

However, it is now sadly time to say goodbye to this unforgettable duo as Hacks season 5 will mark the end of the series. No doubt the show will go out with as much acclaim as is expected by now, with plenty of both laughs and poignant moments.

Euphoria season 3

Premiere date: April 12

Surely the most-anticipated HBO premiere in April is the long-awaited return of Euphoria. The last time the show was on HBO was back in 2022, and while there was always the intention of continuing the story, the longer the hiatus went on and the stars became genuine movie stars, the more it started to seem unlikely.

However, the long wait is over with Euphoria season 3 finally arriving, much to the delight of fans, even if this will serve as the end of the series. The first two seasons of Euphoria followed the gritty lives of high school students, filled with sex, drugs, and violence. Season 3 will pick up the story now that they have moved on into their young adult lives.

One of the most interesting aspects of seeing Euphoria return is that the cast of fresh-faced actors it started with have now become some of the biggest names in movies. Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi are all back to reprise their roles, making this a star-studded show that you will not want to miss.

Half Man

Premiere date: April 23

April will also bring an intriguing new series to HBO, and one that welcomes the impressive talents of Richard Gadd. Last year saw Gadd's rise to stardom as the creator and star of the hit Netflix series Baby Raindeer. His next streaming project will also see him starring in the lead role, looking decidedly more intimidating than in Baby Reindeer.

Half Man will star Gadd and Jamie Bell as two brothers who are reunited after a long estrangement, leading to explosive and violent repercussions. The series will examine their long and volatile relationship while dealing with the current mayhem it causes. There is still not much known about the series, which raises the intrigue and suggests it could be the next big hit for Gadd.

Stay tuned for new shows to watch on HBO this spring!
