Fall TV is just around the corner, and we have a bunch of returning television shows that fans loved either last year, years ago, or even decade ago.
Now, it's the time for you to play catch-up before all of these great shows return in September with new seasons. Luckily, you still have time to do just that!
I shared a list of the five returning TV shows that you should check out once September rolls around.
Chad Powers
- Seasons: 1
- Season 2 premiere date: Sept. 3
- Where to watch: Hulu
Starring Glen Powell, Chad Powers is the kind of television series that you never expect is going to be a huge hit, and then it takes the world by storm.
The series, with one season available to stream and another on the way, tells the story of a former college quarterback who disgraced himself while in the program. Now, he decides to transform himself through wigs, prosthetics, and more to somehow get himself onto a football team that’s suffering at a small college. How? Through his new name — Chad Powers.
Yes, this show is so ridiculous but in the best way. If you’re a fan of Powell and his comedic timing, you’ll love him in this series. Overall, it has a lot of heart and sends a message to those who feel like their shot in the spotlight has passed. As mentioned before, there’s only one season, and the second premieres on Hulu on Sept. 3, 2026.
American Horror Story
- Seasons: 12
- Season 13 premiere date: Sept. 24
- Where to watch: FX/Hulu
I think you’d have to live under a rock not to know what American Horror Story is at this point, but if you don’t, I’ll make this quick. American Horror Story is an anthology series co-created by Ryan Murphy that tells a new tale each season, bringing horror, intrigue, and terror to fans everywhere.
I say several seasons because each season has new characters. Still, season 13 specifically will be a “tribute” season to many other seasons — meaning the cast and crew will return as several characters from previous seasons. I’d say you should rewatch these seasons to catch up:
- Murder House (season 1)
- Coven (season 3)
- Freak Show (season 4)
- Hotel (season 5)
- Cult (season 7)
- Apocalypse (season 8)
All of these seasons will give you the basics of what to remember for each character. Season 13 premieres with three episodes on FX on Sept. 24, 2026.
The Paper

- Season 2 premiere date: Sept. 9
- Where to watch: Peacock
When The Paper was first announced, I’m pretty sure plenty of people thought it was going to be a pointless spinoff series. But honestly, it’s a fun show that fans of The Office have loved, and it's earned a lovely season 2 renewal.
The Paper follows the same documentary crew that worked on The Office as they settle in Ohio, this time covering a historic Midwestern newspaper called The Toledo Truth Teller that is declining in circulation. The crew tries to bring it back with the help of volunteer reporters. And yes, it gets wild.
The biggest connection between this series and the original mockumentary is that Oscar Nunez reprised his role as Oscar Martinez, an accountant. Other than that, there aren’t many familiar faces. But there’s still a lot of talent here and plenty of funny bits that will make you laugh the moment you start watching. The second season premieres on Sept. 9, 2026, on Peacock.
Slow Horses

- Where to watch: Apple TV
There have been so many good Apple TV shows released this summer, but another great series that has been around for years is returning, and that’s Slow Horses.
The series, which has run for five seasons so far, is based on the novel series Slough House, written by Mick Herron. Slow Horses tells the story of the legendary “dumping-ground department” for MI5 rejects, who haven’t been fired but have failed so miserably at their jobs that they were demoted to this department, called Slough House.
Agents who live there are given dull tasks meant to insult their intelligence and punish their mistakes, under the leadership of Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman). However, life changes when crimes and cases begin to endanger Britain and all they love.
Slow Horses has been praised worldwide for its adaptation, script, and acting. Oldman himself is a standout, but the whole cast and crew are phenomenal. The sixth season premieres on Apple TV on Sept. 16, 2026.
The Gentlemen

- Season 2 premiere date: Sept. 3
- Where to watch: Netflix
Last but not least, we have The Gentlemen. Created by Guy Ritchie and based on the film of the same name, this Netflix series has the action you’re looking for.
The series stars Theo James as Eddie Horniman (yes, that is his actual last name), a soldier who suddenly finds out he is the heir to his family’s massive estate when his father passes away but discovers that the estate is connected to an operation for a huge weed empire, where Eddie has to learn how to play well with crime.
Out of every show on this list, this is the one that I think is the wildest and most out there, but it’s such a fun time. New episodes are released on Netflix on Sept. 3, 2026.
I think it’s time to revisit the world of all of these shows. Whichever ones you pick, you’re sure to have a fun time.
