There's no denying that Off Campus has been one of the biggest hits of the year. The hockey romance series based on the books by Elle Kennedy premiered on Prime Video in May 2026 and quickly took over the world with a collective obsession. It didn't take long for the streamer to renew the breakout smash for a second season and get the cameras rolling all over again.
Off Campus season 2 has been in production since June, and while we have already learned which character from season 1 won't be back and which new characters are joining the fold, fans have been waiting for some particularly anticipated casting news. After teasing the impending arrival of Dean's sister Summer, we finally know who's stepping into the role of the major book character.
Shay Rudolph cast as Dean's sister Summer in Off Campus season 2
On Aug. 13, the official Off Campus social media accounts shared a video featuring Dean Di Laurentis actor Stephen Kalyn introducing the actress who will be playing his on-screen sister. Taking part in popular online trend for siblings, Kalyn welcomed Shay Rudolph to the season 2 cast as Dean's sister Summer Di Laurentis. In the first season finale of Off Campus, it's revealed that Charlie Evans' recurring character had actually been the book character Hunter Davenport the whole time. Since he and Allie had hooked up without strings attached, Hunter had used a fake name. But in the finale, Allie learns his real identity and his connection to both Dean and his sister in the past.
Hunter was Dean's former rival when he played hockey in high school and he also dated Summer. There's still history and hatred between the pair, which is basically doubled now that Hunter has also hooked up with Allie. Summer making her way to Briar University in the wake of the tense confrontation that ended the first season will surely add fuel to the fire.
Rudolph is expected to appear in Off Campus season 2 in a recurring capacity, though Deadline refers to the actress as a guest star. We'll have to wait and see how many episodes Summer actually appears in when the season finally premieres, but one thing's for sure. The cast and crew don't have to keep her casting a secret the same way they kept Evans' role as Hunter under wraps.
In addition to Kalyn and Mika Abdalla taking center stage this season for Allie and Dean's love story, Off Campus season 2 also welcomes back the rest of the season 1 main cast: Belmont Cameli, Ella Bright, Antonio Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks. Josh Heuston isn't expected to reprise his role, and India Fowler joins the cast as Grace Ivers. Phillipa Soo also recurs as Scarlett.
Rudolph will be familiar to some viewers, as the young actress previously starred in Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club reboot series and also appeared in such television shows as Lethal Weapon and The Sex Lives of College Girls. She also led Disney+'s canceled Holes reboot pilot. Off Campus might be the star's biggest role to date, especially since her character has her own spinoff book.
