This weekend brought actual concrete news for True Detective as the show saw Colin Farrell confirm his role as one of the main characters on the new season. But now that Farrell has joined the cast in an official capacity, there are lingering questions that remain unanswered.

For starters, the rest of the cast is still as big a mystery as it was before Sunday’s announcement, and that’s something fans are looking at with bewilderment. Granted, Farrell was one of the rumored members of the rumored cast that was unofficially official, but Elisabeth Moss dropping out cast doubt over everything we thought we knew.
However, Farrell joining the cast is a step in the right direction when it comes to getting those rumors about the cast confirmed. It’s very possible that Moss was in talks with HBO to star in the second season but ended up going with a Broadway production instead.
Luckily, Farrell didn’t bounce from negotiations and is part of the cast which bodes well for the other names being mentioned. Jut like Moss, there’s a chance Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn don’t join the show, but Farrell was a huge catch for True Detective and the rest of the cast will surely fall into place in the near future.
