How Many Season Can True Detective Last?
By Josh Hill
The second season of the hit HBO series True Detective is going to eventually premiere but the question fans already have is how long can or will the show last? So far the first season of the show has won over fans everywhere but the series is bound to continue and try to build on that success.

But just how long is that and what’s the sustainability of the series? Nic Pizzolatto has said that the series will last three seasons, which is a bit of a bummer to fans of the show who want more. So how long will the show last and should it last longer than the three planned seasons?
To answer the first question, we have no idea how many seasons the show will last as the individuality of each season opens up a lot of doors for where the series can go. In theory, the show could last forever if it keeps going to new stories with each new season. That’s unlikely to happen though, as HBO is pretty good about not beating a show to death or beating an audience over the head with a hit series.
Typically, the solid ending point for a series seems to be five seasons, which mean while three are currently planned for True Detective we could see more.
