True Detective Season 2: Will it start in January 2015 or later?

As we sit in this void of not having True Detective in our lives, we are all wondering just when the series is set to come back and when we will once again be indulging in one of the best series on television. But while the first season premiered in January, it’s starting to look like we may not have the second season start up at the same time next year.

We’re still a few months away from January but so far we’ve had no progress on a second season and still no mention of one altogether. We know one is coming but we just can’t be sure of exactly when it’s coming. Frankly, it’s starting to look like January 2015 is not a date in which we can expect to see the second season premiere, but let’s not rush to conclusions just yet.

There is plenty of time for casting to be done, filming to take place and editing to be finished to meet that January date but we’re getting to the point in time where that process could be rushed and a show like True Detective cannot be rushed.

So when would a new season of True Detective premiere if it misses the January 2015 date? The logical thing is to take it month by month as we’ve seen shows premiere in different months from season to season. Another route to go is the dreaded Louie route in which we get stuck in a vortex of over 18 months without a new episode, something comedian Louis C.K. did with his hit FX series.

That’s a real possibility moving forward as True Detective is a delicate show that can’t be rushed, but no matter when it premieres it’s looking like January 2015 might be a bit hasty at the moment.
