True Detective Connection To Arrested Development? (Photo)

The first season of the hit HBO series True Detective has a lot going for it still, but the connections to other pop culture phenomenons continue to be found.
As if the first season of True Detective isn’t already enough of a pop culture phenomenon, we are now finding out different easter eggs in other shows that we didn’t know linked to True Detective.

Obviously, if a show came before True Detective, there is no way for it to be in the know about the reference made, but there’s a chance that a prop was set up in True Detective as a deliberate callback to a previous series. This may be the case for the mug that Rust Cohle used in the first season, as some clever viewers have found it in another hit sow that has a serious following.
That show is none other then Arrested Development.
It’s interesting to see the mug pop up in Arrested Development and True Detective, but the connection is no doubt there. No one from True Detective has commented on if the placement of the mug was a call back to the FOX series, but the coincidence seems like a stretch.
Then again, it’s just a mug and we may be all reading too much into it. Maybe it’s just because both shows are so cool, linking them would be amazing.
