The second season of the hit HBO series True Detective is right around the corner but so far only one director has been hired when more than one will be needed.
HBO has either been taking it’s time in getting together the new season of the show or are dragging their feet but the bottom line is that something needs to change about the production of the show and people still need to be hired. Namely, more than one director needs to be hired as Justin Lin is the only man on the job at the moment.

This brings a number of names into the fold, but one name that makes some sense is Peter Berg. With Taylor Kitsch on board now, the existing relationship between the two could lead to Berg coming on for some True Detective episodes. But there’s another relationship with HBO that Berg has that could lead to a True Detective deal getting done.
Berg is a director and a producer on the cult hit series The Leftovers on HBO, which is something that not only gives him a relationship with HBO, it gives him directorial credit at HBO as well.
It’s still a stretch to say he’ll do it for sure as he’s a busy man making motion pictures. But he has a strong relationship with Taylor Kitsch and one with HBO as well, all of which bodes well for him directing some True Detective episodes and bringing some Hollywood shone to the series.
