Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley Audition For True Detective (Video)
By Josh Hill
The second season of the hit HBO series True Detective has already found its cast, but that hasn’t stopped two former NBA All-Stars from trying out for the this season of the show.
True Detective has inspired a variety of parodies over the months since the show hit it big and then went off the air. Things have slowed since the show aired its season finale back in March — both in production and in parodies — but every so often something pops up that surprises us all.

Look no further than this most recent parody of the show from the most unlikely duo. TNT and Bleacher Report threw together a parody of True Detective that features Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal auditioning for roles in the third season of the show.
Check out the hilarious parody below, which features Shaq trying to audition for Matthew McConaughey’s role because he’s ‘sexier’.
This isn’t the best parody of the bunch but it’s proof that True Detective is without a doubt a cultural phenomenon. It was one thing to have Jimmy Kimmel parody the show immediately after it’s season finale, but it’s another thing entirely to have an NBA pregame team parody the show eight months after the show ended.
