True Detective Makes Vulture’s 10-Best List
True Detective was a critical darling immediately upon airing, but the accolades are still coming in. Besides recently being nominated for both Writers Guild (WGA) and Producer’s Guild (PGA) Awards, Vulture has seen fit to place True Detective on their year-end list of the 10-best series of 2014.
True Detective takes the number eight spot, sandwiched between Mad Men and Cosmos. It would be difficult to talk about True Detective without bringing up Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, so Vulture does just that:

"“Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are a buddy cop team for the ages, and perhaps the best yin-yang pairing of lead actors since William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy on the original Star Trek.”"
High praise. It’s worth noting that Fargo did not make the list, despite it also being a much talked about and well received series. Most of the usual drama suspects, such as Game of Thrones and House of Cards, did not make the cut.
In case you’re curious, Hannibal was the series that took the number one spot. Hannibal has been a rising star, and could become more direct competition for True Detective at some point. You can check out the rest of the list here. Would any of Vulture’s picks make your own list?
