Report: Rick Springfield Will be in True Detective
That is one headline that never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined would be written. There’s just no predicting that. In a completely unexpected turn of events, it appears that Rick Springfield has joined the cast of True Detective and according to Screen crush, he’s even started filming. Rick Springfield being, of course, the singer of Jesse’s Girl.
As Screen crush also points out, however, Springfield is not stranger to acting and even appeared in Californicaton. Even still, it’s just the kind of let-field casting that True Detective is becoming known for. Each new unexpected cast member seems more and more unexpected. It’s become part of the fun of True Detective.

Springfield’s role is so far unexplained, but it’s likely not to be a large one. Hopefully this wasn’t something that HBO was trying to keep quiet, but it does bring us back to the time that Colin Farrell announced his own involvement without the aid of HBO.
True Detective is shaping up to have quite the unique cast, and if nothing else is just further proof that more and more A-list stars are beginning to flock to television. Between Taylor Kitsch, Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams, the cast was already looking incredible. But now we have Rick Springfield.
If you saw that one coming we’d love to know about it.
