By Josh Hill
Woody Harrelson has been nominated for Best Actor yet again at a major awards show, this time at the Golden Globes for his role in True Detective.
The Golden Globes announced their nominations for this year, and True Detective star Woody Harrelson joined Matthew McConaughey as a nominee for Best Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie.

Harrelson is a name that some maybe expected to be nominated but he was far from being a lock to win anything for True Detective. To be fair, no one outside of Cary Fukunaga has won anything for True Detective but that could change with the series having a 40 percent chance to win an award at Best Actor.
Here’s a look at the actors nominated for Best Actor in a TV Miniseries or Movie.
Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Miniseries or Movie
Martin Freeman – “Fargo”
Woody Harrelson – “True Detective”
Matthew McConaughey – “True Detective”
Mark Ruffalo – “The Normal Heart”
Billy Bob Thornton – “Fargo”
What’s fun about this category is that it means the debate between Fargo and True Detective will be settled forever. HBO slotting True Detective and selling it to the Emmy Awards as a Best Drama meant the two shows wouldn’t clash, but they will at the Golden Globes. That’s huge for the series as even if Matthew McConaughey loses, there’s still a chance in there for Woody Harrelson to walk away with the award.
