Good evening and welcome! This will serve as the inaugural edition of This Week in True Detective. We will gather the best True Detective happenings from the week and condense them here for your reading pleasure.
Let’s kick things off.
- Earlier this week we took a look True Detective’s biggest problem: its format. The anthology genre puts a lot of varied limitations on what a series can do, and what it should do, in a season. Oh, and there is that pesky issue of its silence on the social front.
- This week was the lead-up to The Golden Globes, which will be held this Sunday. Don’t miss it! True Detective is up for awards in three categories, and Variety think its chances are pretty good.
- We got our first possible peak at another True Detective director for season two. Strictly a rumor at this point since it hasn’t been confirmed, but it appears legit.
- Finally, True Detective appeared twice this week as interview topics. Once with Fargo show runner Noah Hawley, and again with Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu
And there is your True Detective digest for the week of 1/05/2015. This will be a new weekly feature that will go up every Friday night. Let us know what you think!
