This Week in True Detective: Pre-SAG Countdown (Week of 1/19/2015)

This Week in True Detective is a new feature that aims to bring you the best True Detective happenings of the week. This could include breaking news, popular articles, or anything else that people found interesting or may have missed.

This week was officially pre-SAG week, so there really wasn’t that much going on. The SAG awards will take place this Sunday and we’ll be watching to bring you all the news as it unfolds. True Detective is up for a single award, but this time there’s no direct Fargo competition in the same category. You can catch up with our SAG award analysis right here.

Let’s begin.

  • This week saw the leak (sorry) of new images from the set of True Detective’s second season. We got a good luck of Vince Vaughn hanging out on set and looking like he’s having a genuinely good time.
  • We also got an update on True Detective director Cary Fukunaga’s version of IT, which will begin filming this summer for a prospective release in 2017.
  • We took a closer look at what a summer release could mean for True Detective as well as if we’re actually close to a teaser of some kind. 
  • True Detective just won a casting award for its first season pilot. Other winners included Breaking Bad, Fargo, and Orange is the New Black.
