Casting Begins for Nic Pizzolatto’s Galveston

Not much has been going on with season two of True Detective as of late. The show continues its steady production, and we’ve gotten some leaked photos out of it. Though none from Rachel McAdams, which is beginning to feel odd. But True Detective isn’t why we’re here right now.

We’re here to discuss Nic Pizzolatto’s other creation, his novel Galveston. Galveston was published in 2010, and was Nic Pizzolatto’s first major leap into writing. He had previously published short stories. Deadline is now reporting that a film adaptation of Galveston has begun casting.

Nic Pizzolatto won’t be directing this adaptation, which is perhaps a good thing for True Detective fans since it already takes so long put a single season together.

Instead, Galveston will be directed by Jason Metz Pedersen. In case that name sounds familiar, it’s because Pedersen is also rumored to be directing an episode or two of True Detective’s second season.

Pedersen’s involvement with True Detective has still not been confirmed by HBO, so whether or not he’ll be doing both or just taking on Galveston is unknown. Galveston is casting now and is aiming to start shooting in the fall, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see it before 2016.

Galveston is a true Nic Pizzolatto noir yarn about a man with a terminal illness who feels that he’s become a target for the outlaws that he works for. Pedersen’s involvement makes things all the more interesting as he is primarily known for documentaries and it would seem that he and Pizzolatto definitely hit it off.
