Could True Detective Sequels Continue As Graphic Novels?
By Josh Hill
The hit HBO series True Detective has floored critics and fans but the question of how the series can survive beyond three seasons is one that fans continue to ponder.
With the second season of the HBO series True Detective almost here, the series likely only has one more season in it before it goes off the air for good — or at least a very long time. Nic Pizzolatto has stated that the show will end after three seasons, but given the anthology nature of the show, it could theoretically last for years and years since no two seasons are the same.

Further proof that the show could survive beyond three seasons is seen in the fact that the same actors aren’t reused and recast in the next season. American Horror Story does this, but then again they’re on season four already so that ends that excuse.
With the fandom that exists for True Detective, there is no reason the show can’t survive as a graphic novel. This doesn’t meant he marketplace has to be littered with True Detective comics, rather HBO can control the books that are released but hire different graphic novelists and artists to tackle the deed.
Chuck Palahinuk is releasing a graphic novel sequel to Fight Club in the ear future, which is all the proof you need that the medium is a sustainable way to take something we all love and keep it going.
