YouTube user theaspectwithin took it upon himself to combine the True Detective visuals with the Akira Yamaoka song “Overdose Delusion,” from Silent Hill 2.
Silent Hill’s early games are none for, among other things, having a fantastic soundtrack. This Yamaoka song fits surprisingly well with True Detective, to the point that we have to wonder why this never occurred to anyone before — ourselves included.
For the uninitiated, Silent Hill 2 is a psychological survival horror game. It constantly makes the list of the “scariest games,” and with good reason. Anyone out there unfamiliar with the series should be properly warned before running off to google. With that said, Silent Hill 2 is also one of the best horror games, and one of the best games of the early oughts in general.
And now fans of both have a good reason to be pleased. True Detective’s second season is currently in production, and a new game in the Silent Hill series is coning from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro.
Sometimes, life just works out so you can have your cake and eat it too.
