Has True Detective killed it’s own hype?
By Josh Hill
True Detective is going to premiere this summer, but has the long wait for the show killed all of the hype that was building last year?
Last year saw True Detective burst onto the scene as one of the best new shows on television, and while the awards didn’t really pile up for the series it was something that fans were attached to in a big way.

But with the long wait in production, the series may have killed all of the momentum it had going for itself and that’s a big issue that might not be able to be corrected. Despite the star-studded cast and the excellent reviews from the first season, there is an absence of hype about the second season of the show and it’s something that is hard to watch develop.
The first season of the show was almost flawless and with the time that has passed, it has only gotten better and better. But for the second season, the long wait for the start of production caused some in the fast paced world of television to sort of forget that it exists.
That’s an issue, and it’s frankly sad to see after the success of the first season. The show is a hit waiting to happen, but without the fan hype that existed before, the show has lost a tone of momentum. That’s all to blame on the wacky shooting schedule and the delays in production that occurred and it might be True Detective’s own fault if it fails.
