Who is to blame if True Detective Season 2 fails?
By Josh Hill
True Detective Season 2 is going to be coming this summer and it’s looking like if it fails, some big time heads might roll as a result.
The second season of the hit HBO series True Detective is right around the corner and the series has high expectations but a surprising lack of hype about it. But if the show fails to latch on and be the follow up hit it needs to be — who is going to be blamed?

Nick Pizzolatto is going to likely shoulder most of the blame for the series failing — if it does — as he’s assumed the majority creative role behind the show. He has canned Cary Fukunaga, relegating him to an executive producer role, and is going to be the main man behind season 2.
But there’s also the actors to consider, as the show has an A-List cast of stars that could take the brunt of the hatred of the show fails to succeed.
Colin Farrell doesn’t need the show to succeed to be a star again, but it would hurt if it failed. Vince Vaughn has a string of box office flops to his name at the moment, and he’s a natural and easy target to blame of the show is a disaster.
HBO could be blamed too, for stalling production for as long as they did and pushing the show back. If it all pays off, no one is going to even remember this stress. But if it fails, then the fans are going to be out for blood and there’s a long line of people to choose from to get it.
