Today saw that the release of not only True Detective’s second season premiere date, but also the first teaser. So we have to apologize to Sling TV users right off the bad; your news is playing second fiddle today. That’s just how it shakes out sometimes. But at least it’s good news.

We previously reported that HBO was on its way to the cord-cutter service, and now it’s here. According to Sling TV themselves, you’ll be able to add HBO on to your existing plan for an extra $15 a month. That’s about as much as HBO Now, HBO’s own new streaming service aimed at cord cutters.
Adding HBO to your Sling TV service gives you live HBO and on demand, which is arguably better than HBO Now users get. Sling TV users are also paying at least $20 per month anyway, so maybe we shouldn’t be instigating.
HBO is now available on pretty much any modern device and entirely at your convenience. It will be interesting to see how many cord-cutters are there go for this, and how many will be using it to watch True Detective. HBO has primed its various streaming options just int me for the fifth season premiere of Game of Thrones, and so technically every other major premiere that will be coming this summer.
True Detective included.
