In an interview not so long ago Colin Farrell spoke about how he thought returning to television might signal the end of his career. Regardless of whether or not that ends up being true — it won’t — Colin Farrell’s legacy will at least live on in Hawaii.

According to Variety, Colin Farrell will be receiving the Navigator Award at the 16th annual Maui Film Festival. Farrell will be joining the ranks of past winners that include Jessica Chastain — once rumored for True Detective — and Clint Eastwood, among others.

The festival will take place June third through the seventh, about two weeks away from True Detective’s second season premiere. True Detective recently kicked into high-gear after a very quiet several months. We were treated to the first teaser, and even more recently three posters that will possibly lead to a full-length trailer.

Colin Farrell will be playing Ray Velcoro in True Detective season two, and can seen in a very tense moment with Vince Vaughn in the teaser. Even though we aren’t sure whether or not True Detective has actually wrapped filming, Farrell certainly won’t need to take time away from shooting to attend the ceremony in Hawaii.

Considering that there’s not exactly a lot of time left between now and June, it shouldn’t be too much longer  until we’re granted a better look at Colin Farrell in action.
