HBO, Showtime Make $400 Million For Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight
By Bryce Olin
The fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao may not have been the “Fight of the Century,” as it was billed to be. It might not have been exactly what people hoped it would be, but HBO and Showtime definitely came out of fight a little richer, $400 million richer actually.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight netted nearly $400 million for HBO and Showtime, which is easily the biggest Pay-Per-View event in history.
That’s an excessive amount of money for people to spend on anything, let alone an hour of two dudes wailing (sort of) on each other.
By now, you know Mayweather won by unanimous decision after both fighters were able to last all 12 rounds without getting knocked out or bowing out of the fight.

According to many, the fight itself was largely underwhelming. Unfortunately, based on the steep price of Pay-Per-View and a personal preference of not enjoying people beat on each other, I did not watch the fight, but my cable did go out because of it, which was not cool at all. Thanks Comcast!
But, based on the buzz on social media and the amount of revenue generated from the fight, it appears boxing is not only not dead, as everyone had been saying leading up the fight, but it might actually be more alive than it has ever been.
At least, HBO and Showtime would have to agree with that.
