True Detective Season Two Ranks as “Watch Live” at Grantland
Before you know it the summer will be here. And that means summer television. But unlike season one, summer now means more True Detective. Those who watch many shows besides True Detective are going to have to find a way to manage their time, and part of that means what to DVR (or HBO GO, in this case,) and what to watch live.

The fine folks over at Grantland deem the second season of True Detective compelling enough to watch live, which in this day age of constant streaming is quite a recommendation. Interestingly enough, the author of the article wasn’t down with the first season.
It’s too early to say whether True Detective season two will address all of the criticisms of the first, but the larger cast is enough to get people excited.
Another series that ends up as “watch live,” is NBC’s Hannibal. The fact that they both make the list further proves TV’s Golden Age as well as a possible cultural thirst for dark storytelling. HBO haven’t full pulled out all the marketing stops for True Detective yet, but considering the A-list cast people will likely check in just to see the performances without needing a full-scale marketing campaign.
And considering that the second season of True Detective will premiere next month, that may be the angle that HBO is taking. You know that we’re going to be hitting True Detective live, and we hope to see you there as well.
