Target has an Exclusive Version of True Detective Season One
True Detective season two will premiere on June 21st, but HBO hasn’t been doing that much to promote it. By randomly dropping teases, however, HBO have let the internet create their own True Detective ad campaign. But HBO have actually gone a step forward and re-releasd the first season of True Detective, ostensibly to tie in with season two.

Target is the exclusive retailer for this steel book re-release of True Detective season one, which was released at the beginning of June. The release features new artwork which was created by Mondo, the artists associated with the Alamo Drafthouse theater chain.
Mondo has been getting around, as they recently released a limited edition version of the Hannibal soundtrack.
Target’s version of True Detective‘s first season doesn’t include any extra content, so don’t feel as if you need to double-dip. There’s nothing new here, though the new art and steel book are quite nice. The monochrome cover features Rust and Marty surrounded by the gifts of the Yellow King and Carcosa symbolism.
It certainly gets to the heart of the show better than HBO’s original packaging does. Target’s True Detective first season is currently on sale for $34, so if you feel the need to double dip or haven’t yet taken the plunge into True Detective, now may be the time.
