Have we Seen the Last True Detective Season Two Trailer?
HBO was silent on True Detective for so long that it felt like a breath of fresh air when they finally released that first trailer. But since that first trailer we’ve been wondering if we’d be getting a better look at True Detective’s second season. After all, the first two trailers clock in at a minute each.

The two recently released trailers are more akin to teasers than full-on trailers; they’re only thirty seconds a piece. This doesn’t line up with their strategy for season one, which saw several trailers at over a minute in length. Each.
With HBO stealth-dropping two True Detective trailers on the same day over the weekend, we’re now getting the feeling that there may not be anymore new True Detective season two trailers. Even though we’ve technically gotten four trailers so far, we haven’t actually seen very much.
In fact, True Detective is mow more cryptic than it’s ever been before. Considering how secretive HBO has been with True Detective season two during production, this actually makes a bit of sense. A bit of frustrating sense, that is.
True Detective season two is all about secrets; the characters have secrets and so does HBO. Even though the characters seem to be more front-and-center this time around, True Detective has never been this mysterious. It may be the theme of the season, or it just may indicate how the show is going to operate going forward.
With under two weeks until True Detective premiers, it wouldn’t be surprising if HBO doesn’t release another trailer. A short tease — 15 seconds or less — wouldn’t be farfetched, but it’s highly unlikely at this point that we’ll see something much longer than that.
