Rachel McAdams Talks about the True Detective Shootout
Last Sunday’s episode of True Detective ended with an intense shootout that left everyone except Ray, Paul, and Ani, dead. It was the perfect ending to what we consider to be the best episode of True Detective season two so far. It was also an episode that gave Rachel McAdams — as Ani Bezzerides — a fair amount of screen time.

Now Rachel McAdams has opened up about the action scene, which apparently wasn’t a walk in the park. McAdams told Variety that it took five days to shoot the whole scene and that it was just as intense as it looked:
"“That was pretty intense. I actually puked during that scene. When I was running and reloading my gun — it actually wound up being about 200 yards, it was like two football fields — and I was just going all out and we did it a couple of times.”"
McAdams doesn’t blame True Detective for her vomiting, as she assigns some of the blame to herself:
"“I had been drinking that EmergenC and going hard to just try to keep my energy up. Not a good combination, the running and that. But I kind of felt bada–. Like yeah, let’s do it again. It was really fun though. I like action. I like being thrust into that.”"
McAdams has been doing a stellar job on True Detective so far as Ani Bezzerides. Ani is quickly becoming one the most complex characters on True Detective, especially after last Sunday’s episode. True Detective season two used to be all about Frank and Ray, but maybe it’s time to rethink that.
