HBO Worlds Collide When Julia Louis-Dreyfus Hangs with George R.R. Martin
By Sam Rideout
Game of Thrones and Veep have less than nothing in common. They’re both on HBO, there you go, so they actually do have one thing in common. George R.R. Martin has become a superstar author thanks to the success of Game of Thrones, the sort of celebrity that authors rarely achieve. We’re basically at the point at which when he does anything, it’s noteworthy.

Martin’s alma mater, Northwestern University, recently honored him with an award. While in Chicago a few days ago, he spent some time with Julia-Louis Dreyfus and went to Northwestern football game. Martin usually receives a lot of flack when he’s out and about and not hunkered down in front of his computer, writing. It creates so much of a stir, that fellow super-famous author Neil Gaimain popularized the phrase “George R.R. Martin is not your bitch” on his blog a few years ago.
It’s always cool when celebrities hangout with each other for some reason. It’s not like they’re not allowed to have friends or rub-elbows with each other, but for some reason it’s just a lot of fun when they’re seen together. George R.R. Martin and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are two of the biggest stars that HBO currently has, which is certainly saying something for Martin considering he has little-to-no involvement in the show.

Could this chance meeting lead to the greatest crossover in history? Which Veep characters would Martin see fit to make you love, and then kill? And on the other side, which Game of Thrones character would be funniest dealing with mindless politics? Peter Dinklage probably already has that down, actually.
