True Detective Season Two Nominated for Producers Guild Award
In what seems like an act off defiance, the Producers Guild has nominated True Detective.
Award season is just about upon us and True Detective has already been ignored by both the SAG’s and Golden Globes. Neither snub was particularly surprising considering the current climate surround True Detective. There was no reason to believe that True Detective would be win any awards, let alone be nominated. Well, that has changed.

As if defying the natural order of things, the Producer’s Guild of America has chosen to actually recognize True Detective. These are wild times we are living in. True Detective season two has been nominated in Long-Form Television, a category that is filled with heavy-hitters. Here is the full list of nominees:
- American Crime
- American Horror Story: Hotel
- Fargo
- True Detective
- A Very Murray Christmas
American Horror Story is an award show darling and is consistently nominated. The two real takeaways from the nominee list are Fargo and A Very Murray Christmas. Fargo’s second season was somehow able to trump the first, so it wouldn’t be surprising at all if it won. In fact, it’s safer to expect it.
A Very Murray Christmas is the outlier here. A bizarre Netflix special, A Very Murray Christmas barely qualifies as television but doesn’t really belong in any other category either. Unfortunately it even has more a chance of winning than True Detective does.
Next: True Detective season two gains the support of One Perfect Shot.
Even though its chances are abysmal not very high, it’s nice to see season two of True Detective actually nominated for something. It’s a welcome change of pace, but we’re still a long way away from the Emmy’s.
