Reminder: Rachel McAdams up for a Critics Choice Award
True Detective actually has two awards in the pipeline, though the odds are just about equal.
True Detective was entirely passed over by the Golden Globes, but that’s mostly alright since it would never have taken home the gold anyway. There is, however, good news out there. True Detective was nominated for an award by the Producer’s Guild, and last month Rachel McAdams was nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award.

Rachel McAdams was actually nominated twice: once for Spotlight and one for True Detective. It’s far more likely that she’ll win for Spotlight, however. The competition in Actress in a Movie made for Television or Limited Series is fierce. Check out the full list of nominees:
- Kathy Bates (American Horror Story: Hotel)
- Kirsten Dunst (Fargo)
- Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone)
- Alyvia Alyn Lind (Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors)
- Rachel McAdams (True Detective)
- Shanice Williams (The Wiz Live!)

American Horror Story usually has good luck with awards, so it’s fair to bet on that one. Kirsten Dunst was fantastic in the second season of Fargo, but since Fargo was harshly snubbed at The Golden Globes that could go either way. However it shakes out, it’s unlikely that Rachel McAdams is going to be able to take this one home.
Matthew McConaugehy was nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award for season one and he was able to win. That was at the peak of True Detective’s powers, however, and we’re a long way away from that. The Critic’s Choice Awards will take place this weekend, on January 17th.
