Pottermore has revealed more information about Colin Farrell’s character and his fashion.
Colin Farrell’s time in True Detective is over, but he has plenty of other interesting projects lined up. Currently in production, and the highest profile film he’s currently involved with, is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. As was previously revealed, Farrell will be playing a powerful Auror in the Harry Potter prequel/spinoff.

Now, thanks to a piece on the official Harry Potter dedicated site, Pottermore, we know just a bit more about his character. The article is primarily about with his costume, provided by Colleen Atwood, an Oscar-winning Costume Designer. Just in case you had any doubt that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them wasn’t going to bring out the big guns.

Colin Farrell’s character, Graves (as he’s referred to as here,) is after Eddie Redmayne’s character, Newt Scamander. Graves is described several times throughout the piece as being powerful, and Atwood herself refers to him as the “ultimate wizard.”
His costuming also hides possibly hints as to his character’s personality, as Atwood states that she “kind of edged his things so they were very graphic black and white too, in a way that made him special.” That sounds like the sort of character that is bound to stand out.
We haven’t gotten that many great looks at Colin Farrell in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them just yet, which leads us to believe that he’s being purposefully hidden for a larger reveal later. That sort of tactic is usually reserved for important characters outside of the lead.
Next: Angie Tribeca is chockfull of True Detective references.
Hopefully we’ll get a better look at Collin Farrell as Graves in the coming months.
